While in Paris this week, Richard Yu,CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, presented this new phone and theconquest strategy of the manufacturer, especially for “L'Obs”.
How can youpresent this new smartphone in two words? - It's simply thebest. It exceeds the iPhone 6 and Galaxy S6 thanks to all its qualities. First,the 13-megapixel back camera is able to make beautiful outside pictures, butalso inside in somber environments. It is equipped with a power imagestabilizer in order to finally succeed in filming in a car without the videoshaking. Furthermore, with its 8 megapixels front-facing camera, it isimpossible to fail one’s selfies. Regarding design, thephone is pretty compact and holds well in the hand, in one-piece metal body.For a similar size, it offers a larger screen than the iPhone. The Ascend P8 isalso endowed with all Huawei’s technologies (in terms of telecom networks,specifies L’Obs). It contains two antennas, one in the upper and one in thelower end of the terminal. If your hand restricts signal reception on eitherend, the other one will automatically pick up the signal to always provide thebest coverage. The same is true for Wi-Fi: the phone will automatically choosethe quickest connection. What are your sales intentionsfor this Ascend P8? - More than 10million. It is true that Apple sells more iPhones, but we are confident in thepower of our technology. We advance step by step. The Ascend range has made itsplace little by little: 4 million, 6 million for the P7 and now more than 10million. Huawei has been founded in1988, though it has manufactured phones only for the past 6 years.Nevertheless, last year, Huawei became the world’s third mobile phonesmanufacturer behind Samsung and Apple. - We are building our brand step bystep. Huawei is a technology company. We therefore try to offer the besttechnologies for our products.
