General Responsibilities

As a member of the application development team, this person will be responsible for

1.Designing and developing GMARRS ETL batch and business rule engine.

2.Designing and developing Web App (AngularJS/Bootstrap/HTML5/Flex/JSP) and server side code (Java), understanding the underlying data

3.Code optimization and performance tuning.

4.Developing SQL, Shell or Perl scripts for metadata set up, data migration and project deployment.

Specific Responsibilities include:

1.Understand the concepts of and write code for the n-tier architecture.

2.Evaluate and adopt new Technology to improve system capacity and flexibility.

3.Understand Java/J2EE design patterns, concepts of Model-View-Controller (MVC), and object-relational (OR) mapping

4.Read and interpret data model, and understand Entity Relationship (ER) model

5.Build Web App using front-to-back technologies like JS, HTML5, Flex, Java, Spring, Hibernate.

6.Build lightweight micro-services and deploy in virtualized containers

7.Write SQL, Transact-SQL and develop stored procedures

8.Understand and follow technical design document and code appropriate components

9.Write jobs scheduler and monitoring scripts, such as Autosys and Netcool

10.Develop test cases and perform unit and integration testing

11.Follow teams adopted standards, naming conventions and best practices

12.Follow Agile methodology and adopt continuous deployment best practices, using tools like Git, JIRA, etc.

1.3-7 years working experience in Java software development

2.Experience in Java multiple-threading program is highly preferred.

3.Experience in cloud computing/distributed computing is highly preferred.

4.Experience in business rule engine (such as Drool, Halo) is preferred.

5.Experience in big data is highly preferred, such as Hadoop, HBase, HIVE etc

6.Experience in SQL/Stored Procedures/Transact-SQL is mandatory

7.Experience in SDLC best practices, such as code version control, is desirable

8.Experience in financial industry, particularly in regulatory compliance, is preferred

9.Fast learner, self motivated individual, a team player and able to work independently

10.Good English skill in reading and writing is highly preferred

11.Good English skill in meeting and communication is desirable.

This role would be responsible for

1.Commissioning and deploying new servers and processes where required.

2.Undertaking all relevant system and process upgrades, and related testing, support and deployment.

3.Implementing improved processes and automation to support the above efforts and as well as to provide better support to developers working in these environments.

4.Third-line support on all servers and processes within the plant (first and second-line support are provided by another team)

5.Some weekend/evening work may be required on a periodic basis to implement changes during system maintenance windows (typically early evening / Saturday morning) and third-line, on-call support on a roster basis (typically roughly one week in four) will also be required.

1.3 to 5 years experience working in a complex, multi-server, multi-processor 24 x 6 Unix environment

2.Demonstrated history of successfully undertaking automation in such an environment using tools such as Perl/Python

3.Strong UNIX / Linux skills

4.Strong English communication skills are essential as this role involves frequent interactions with IT teams across Asia (as well as Europe and the US)

5.Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to cooperate with team-members in distributed locations, from different background and cultures.

6.Basic knowledge of core enterprise technologies such as virtual disks, virtual pcs, clustering, job-scheduling etc

7.Basic knowledge of computer systems, data structures and algorithms

Advantageous but not essential:

10.Knowledge of C , Java or other OO programming languages

11.Basic relational database skills (SQL, DB design, etc.)
